In the NBA the biggest sponsorship asset for teams is the patch on the shoulder of their uniforms, and our team had gone 2 full seasons without the key source of revenue. In the fall of 2023 we came to an agreement with Robinhood, the stock exchange app, to be our jersey partner. With this, we needed to find a way to announce this partnership in a way that made sense - we decided to tie in our announcement with NBA Jersey Day, a day where the entire NBA celebrates uniforms of past and present, and since this was the latest iteration of our uniform we felt it was the best way to acknowledge this. We worked with our comms team, our creative team, partnership group and the Robinhood social team to create a series of posts to announce the partnership that garnered roughly 2 million impressions and about 75K engagements. It was very positively received both publicly and internally, with our partner Robinhood being ecstatic about the announcement. 

We started with a tease the night before, so that fans could know that we’d have content for Jersey Day that they should be on the lookout for. Our friends from Robinhood engaged with the post as sort of a ‘wink wink’ type of thing.

Below you will see where we moved into the official press release, before we moved over to imagery of the jersey with the patch on it.

We then moved into a video showcasing our Wizards team app, the Robinhood app, and the Monumental Sports Network App - a big priority for our organization. Marrying these together in one video was a big win for us internally. We used this content across all platforms in varying dimensions, using the best sizing for the specific social platform.
