Nikola Jokić: Facebook Superstar
‘The Joker’, as he is affectionately called, was the focus of 10 of our 15 most engaged with Facebook posts over the last year. Nikola garners massive engagement from the fans in his native Serbia. We will often target posts to Serbia for 2 am MT as that is around when the Serbian fans are just waking up and checking their Facebook to see how our team (but mostly Nikola) performed.
Knowing what to look for
Our excellent design team, consisting of Bryan Smith, Andy Le, Jen Smith and Matt Peulen are always ready to build out graphics anytime Nikola has an outstanding game. Communicating with them is a seamless operation as they are usually well prepared to have graphics ready in a timely manner.
Good Company
One of the challenges we face is that we are a smaller NBA market and find ourselves in an uphill battle for attention from casual fans. We try to counter that by showing that our players are as good as any and whenever they find themselves in elite company we try to showcase that in a way that is in-line with our brand and voice. Showing our players with notable elite players is an easy way to bring in the casual NBA fan as well as to spark discussion on social.
